Religious Studies
In Pre-prep the syllabus is broadly based upon the best ideas drawn from both the QCA and Hampshire syllabuses. This broad curriculum is designed to promote an understanding of the main world religions thereby leading to views of the beliefs of others based on knowledge. It also gives children an understanding of their own beliefs and values.
The course has a strong bias towards Christianity, being the bedrock of our society, as well as the underlying ethos of the school.
In Preparatory we follow the ISEB Common Entrance and Common Scholarship Examination syllabus which not only provides a sound knowledge of the Old and New Testament but also challenges the pupils to think deeply about many social and moral issues. This serves not only for the purposes of examinations but also provides a sound underpinning foundation, the better to equip them for the world that lies before them as they move on through life. |
