Learning Support Department

The Learning Support Department prides itself on thorough assessment of pupils using a range of normative and computerised cognitive profiling tools, where appropriate. The outcome of assessment leads to the development of intervention programmes designed to meet each pupil’s individual needs.

Our Learning Support teachers endeavour to celebrate pupils strenghts whilst improving their weaknesses and havve experience in working with pupils with a wide range of learning needs. These include dyslexia, dyscaculia, dyspraxia, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. We offer learning support from speicalist dyslexia teachers for pupils in years 1-8.

Our staff are highly qulaified, enthusiastic teachers who deliver multi-sensory programmes with compassion and humour.

Whenever appropriate and from an early age, our pupils are encourage to think about how they learn best, the strategies that they find useful, and the targets set for their own learning.

For children with Learning Support needs it is eessental that they believe themselves to be valued, supported and capable, as this develops confidence. The more confident they feel, the more they are likely to achieve. The school motto: "The place to learn, the space to grow" supports this view. At Boundary Oak School, we strive to create a happy atmosphere and maintain a supportive approach to learning.
