Information and Communication Technology

Children learn about Information and Communication Technology (ICT) throughout the school from EYFS Nursery to Year 8. The EYFS Nursery and Pre-prep classrooms each have computer facilities plus software that is appropriate for their educational needs. From Year 3 to Year 8 each class has a project based ICT lesson each week, to develop their knowledge and understanding of ICT. It is also integrated into the teaching of many other parts of the curriculum.

Pre-prep has access to a centrally located White Board and Preparatory children have two classroom based White Boards. Flip Camera's and Easy-Speak Microphones are also used to enhance the curriculum.

The ICT suite is networked with broadband internet access and an interactive whiteboard. Located centrally, it is a welcoming, light, airy learning space and is kept up to date with advances in technology. This is a valuable resource to promote research, encourage culturally relevant education and the opportunity to engage with contemporary communication technology in our society.

The facilities available allow the pupils to grow in confidence and independence. Each child has a password protected user identity and can access their work at any time. The pupils are able to submit work through the remote network post-box, limiting wastage caused by excess printing. The children manage their own use of the print facilities through the use of print credits.
