History has a significant contribution to make to the improvement of all children's literacy skills, work is aimed at studying, understanding and using text and pictorial material. Links are made with the Hampshire educational service and artefacts are regularly brought into school for the children to enjoy handling sessions. This is also enhanced by touring historical drama groups performing in school.
Use is made of visits to local sites e.g. Mary Rose, HMS Victory, D Day museum in South sea, South sea Castle, the SEARCH museum in Gosport.
