Drama
Drama is considered very important at Boundary Oak School. The aim of the department is to get all pupils involved in the productions. These children may be acting, set designing, playing instruments or helping backstage with lighting and special effects.
The childrens involvement in Drama has many beneficial side effects; they become more confident, they relish the responsibility that they are given and many hidden talents become apparent. Academically, the drama enhances the English curriculum giving it a relevance and a pupil accessibility that it might otherwise lack.
EYFS Nursery through to Preparatory pupils all participate in Christmas, Easter and Summer productions with the purpose built theatre providing an excellent venue. The English, Music and Art departments collaborate every termto help Preparatory stage their productions. Latest productions include: "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat", "Rats", "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Oink". |

However productions are not the only way pupils are involved in Drama at Boundary Oak. Children are encouraged to use their acting skills in assemblies throughout the year and exercises for improved drama are planned into the English curriculum.

Drama is an excellent area in which to take pupils off site to theatre trips. The school also invites touring productions to visit the school for performances that link with the curriculum. Recent visiting companies have included the Artyfact Theatre Company, Young Shakespeare and the Treehhouse Theatre Company who have provided high quality interactive productions for children of all year groups to enjoy.
This year to support our curriculum we have a perapetatic LAMDA tutor available for lessons working towards recognised national drama qualifications. |
