Pastoral Care

"The pastoral care for all pupils is excellent and fulfils the school's aims of valuing and treating each pupil as an individual within a family community, promoting an environment of empathy, respect, compassion and care. The view that the pupils are safeguarded, supported and cared for is shared by the pupils and parents" ISI Report Autumn 2009.

At Boundary Oak we have a simple philosophy; a happy child develops well socially and academically.

All the staff here are approachable and frequent communication with parents is encouraged. Each child has a form teacher who looks after their pastoral needs and teaches them weekly in Personal and Social Education. Our children know the children as individuals because class sizes are small and this enables them to deal with small problems, which can seem overwhelming to a child, quickly and effectively.

Our boarders too are well looked after under the supervision of the houseparents. Our residential Matron plays an invaluable role in both providing plasters and providing a sympathetic ear. Matron is also responsible for healthcare and hygiene throughout the school. Because we have boarders, the school is also a home and the children here benefit from the safe and happy environment which does not close at a certain time each day.
